A Rare Franchise Resale Opportunity.

AGE NO BARRIER FOR SUCCESSFUL MACCLESFIELD OLDERPRENEUR WHO IS TO ‘HANG UP HIS GLOVES’

Franchise Resales in Macclesfield & StockportOur successful Ovenu (Macclesfield) franchisee is to ‘hang up his gloves’ after calling time on his oven valeting career – at the age of 72.

Alan Cordwell, owner of Ovenu Macclesfield & Stockport, is now on the lookout for two new recruits to hand over the reins to after 12 years in business.

Alan, who is the oldest franchisee within the Ovenu network ( and possibly one of the eldest in the franchise sector), started out covering the Stockport East area in 2003 before expanding into Macclesfield in 2005 at the age of 60. Prior to starting out in business, he spent 20 years working in computing with a further 15 years as a purchasing manager.

Since 2003, Alan has amassed more than 6,000 oven valets, with 60% of his business coming from recommendations and repeat custom.

Our Ovenu is a franchise network made up of more than 100 businesses owned by men and women working throughout the UK.

Mr Cordwell said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed the past 12 years and I am delighted to have seen the business grow over this period. With the rise of the internet, it was a challenge to adapt but one that I relished and embraced.

“Being my own boss allowed me to tailor my own schedule, which was a massive selling point when I first started out, and I was fortunate that the opportunity with Ovenu was available, as employers were reluctant to take me on because of my age. The help and support I’ve received from the Ovenu Head Office team over the years has been priceless – the team really know their stuff!”

“It’s going to be a strange feeling not going out to work anymore, but it has been an absolute pleasure to serve my customers throughout the years, many of whom I have got to know so well, and I would like to thank them for their loyalty.”

Rik Hellewell, Managing Director and Founder of Ovenu, said: “Alan has been a fantastic Ovenu franchisee and has served his clientele well over the past 12 years. He is a prime example of someone who has really bought into the brand and seen it grow, with age being no barrier for his success.

“Alan has left behind a thriving, well run business, which is a credit to his work ethic and determination, and I would like to wish him all the best in his retirement. We’re looking forward to taking on two new franchisees to continue Alan’s legacy.”
