Training Manager Expands his own Franchise

WOKINGHAM OVEN VALETER EXPANDS HIS OPERATION AS BUSINESS HEATS UP

Our well-established Wokingham businessman has expanded his environmentally-friendly oven valeting business with the addition of a sub-contractor, after experiencing ‘sizzling’ levels of business activity.

Adam Penniston, owner of Ovenu Wokingham, has seen his business go from strength to strength, and, to keep up with this rising demand, has employed Nathan Thorner to assist with the day-to-day duties.

Adam, 47, has been in business with Ovenu for 17 years, and is also the national training manager for the company, having been one of its first franchisees.

Adam said: “I have known Nathan for many years and I have every confidence in his ability and work ethic, which will help move the business forward. He is the right man for the job, and this will now allow me to focus more on my duties as national training manager at Ovenu. I am excited by this appointment and look forward to working with Nathan for many years to come.”

Nathan, who used to work in the pub trade before joining Ovenu, has known Adam’s family for many years, as he is best friends with Ryan, his son, who owns Ovenu Maidenhead, and was best man at Ryan’s wedding.

Nathan, 24, said: “I am raring to go and having worked in a pub for many years, I am good at dealing with customers, which is a massive advantage. Having seen Ryan’s business flourish, I was keen to get involved in this line of work, and I am grateful to Adam for allowing me this opportunity.

“The job will be hard, and will involve a lot of physical work, but it will be rewarding, and I am looking forward to working with Adam and enhancing his business.”

Ovenu Wokingham delivers its oven valeting service to homes, landlords, schools and businesses throughout the Wokingham area, as well as in Finchampstead, Arborfield, Twyford and Wargrave.

Nathan’s people skills and enthusiasm will put him in good stead for the job, and I would like to welcome him to Ovenu, and wish Adam’s business all the best.”

Our Ovenu valeting process involves dismantling key components of an oven such as the door, interior panels, fan and shelves and placing them into design-registered tank equipment, which uses safe, non-caustic products to clean the oven parts. The whole process takes around three to four hours and leaves the oven, hob and exterior in immaculate condition.

Business Booming for Ovenu in Bath

A Bath businessman has seen a ten per cent increase in business activity this year, a decade after he set up in business.

Ovenu Bath averages around 15 oven valets a week, with Patrick Church, owner of Ovenu Bath, reaching almost 700 cleans since August last year – a ten per cent increase on the same time last year.

Patrick, 49, is now planning to expand his business by hiring a sub-contractor.

Patrick said: “Business has been really good to me over the years even during the recession, as I am constantly kept busy, and above all I thoroughly enjoy my work. Although I am happy operating by myself, I have thought about the idea of expanding and I would be open to the idea of taking on a sub-contractor in the near future.”

Patrick previously worked at a printing ink manufacturer for 16 years, before taking voluntarily redundancy and going on to shift work for a dairy processing plant.

The chance to manage his own schedule to fit around his family commitments is what attracted Patrick to franchising and Ovenu in particular.

Patrick added: “Shift work was not ideal for me as it conflicted with my family commitments, so I was eager to find work that would suit my needs. After researching the market, it was Ovenu that appealed to me the most and I have not looked back since.”

Ovenu Bath provides environmentally-friendly oven valeting to homes, letting agencies and commercial properties in the Bath area and surrounding towns and villages, including Bradford on Avon, Frome , Wells, Shepton Mallet,  Peasedown St John, Midsomer Norton, Paulton, Farrington Gurney, Temple Cloud, Clutton, Pensford and Bishop Sutton.

Patrick’s brother, Mark, is owner of Ovenu North Somerset after starting out in business last September.

Landmark achieved for Ovenu in Bracknell

A successful Bracknell business owner has celebrated his 10th anniversary in style as he reached another landmark milestone – his 10,000th oven clean.

Mark Daniels, 51, owner of Ovenu Bracknell, has seen his environmentally friendly oven valeting business go from strength to strength over the past decade, as he has been averaging between 15 and 21 oven cleans a week.

Previously a manager for a Bracknell tyre business, Mark worked as a sub-contractor for another Ovenu franchise for 18 months before starting out in business on his own.

Mark’s business has improved year-on-year and last November he invested in his business by purchasing a new van.

Seeking a career change, Mark decided to sub-contract for Ovenu, which was a job that he enjoyed and wished to continue with, so he bought his franchise in 2003, which has since paid dividends for him.

Mark said: “I am delighted to have reached these two significant milestones and I would like to thank all of my valuable customers. Business has been going well over the years and I have had a lot of repeats and have become well-known in the area.

“Despite the tough economic climate, I am pleased to have stayed in business this long and I am looking forward to providing the same level of service to the people of Bracknell and the surrounding areas for many more years to come.”

As well as Bracknell, Mark’s business covers Ascot, Crowthorne, Sandhurst, Sunningdale, Sunninghill and Virginia Water.

Rik Hellewell, managing director of Ovenu, said: “I am delighted for Mark that he has reached these two significant landmarks. It just goes to show that dedicated people can use Ovenu’s franchise model to create a successful small business, and I would like to wish Mark all the best going forward.”

5th Year ISO Accreditation

OVENU ACHIEVES FURTHER ISO 9001 ACCREDITATION FROM THE BRITISH ASSESSMENT BUREAU

Ovenu, the professional oven valeting firm, has achieved the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2008, for the fifth consecutive year and is the only business in its sector to hold this important accreditation.

The latest independent assessment was conducted by the British Assessment Bureau a leading Certification Body and demonstrates Ovenu’s continuing commitment to customer service and quality in delivery.

Ovenu has again earned the right to display the coveted British Assessment Bureau Quality Shield and ISO 9001 logo to demonstrate its conformance to the standard.

This most recent re-accreditation gives Ovenu the ‘hat-trick’ of ISO certification, being the only Full Member of the British Franchise Association in its sector and Membership of the Approved Franchise Association

ISO 9001 was first introduced in 1987 and requires organisations to demonstrate that they do what they say they do and that they have a quality management system in place to ensure consistency and improvement; leading to high levels of performance and customer satisfaction. Certified organisations are committed to continuous improvement and are assessed annually to ensure progress is being maintained.

The ISO accreditation for Ovenu also sits within their franchise system. Having over 100 franchisees within the UK, the ISO 9001 certification ensures all franchisees are uniformly trained to the same standard which is not only essential for consumers but also for prospective franchisees who want to know proven management systems are in place.

Ovenu has shown that its key successes, which have proven so popular with householders, are its specialist valeting process, reliability and process controls.

The benefits of registration to the ISO9001 standard include:-

Streamlining an organisation’s procedures.

  • Bringing consistency to an organisation’s service delivery.
  • Reducing cost and rework.
  • Improving an organisation’s management practices.
  • Enhanced status.
  • Competitive advantage.
  • Lower insurance premiums.

Rik Hellewell, Managing Director of Ovenu said, “We are particularly pleased to have achieved ISO9001 accreditation again as it underlines our commitment to our customers and our focus on quality. We are also unique in our industry sector having done so.  Not many customers get to see their suppliers’ ‘back-office’ activities, this recognition demonstrates we can provide a quality solution from quotation to delivery.”

Starting a business during a recession could have been risky, but Jenny found that by giving outstanding customer service and people’s ‘make and do mend’ philosophy means that many clients want to increase the life span of their old appliances rather than having to purchase new ones.

Jenny said: “Since starting my OVENU business two years ago I have grown my client base substantially and have established a strong reputation across the local area. Beverley has embraced my service and I’ve been winning lots of new work through referrals from existing customers.

“I am hoping to keep my business and customer base growing at the same rate and I am aiming to reach my 1000th clean within the next year.

“I have really enjoyed these past two years as the job satisfaction is really high. One of the best parts is seeing my customers’ faces once I have completed the job and I always receive excellent feedback from customers who are so happy to have a clean and safe oven again.

Jenny’s growing Ovenu business is part of a UK-wide franchises operation made up of more than 100 UK franchisees.

Rik Hellewell, Founder of Ovenu, said: “It’s great to see Jenny continuing to do so well.
